Garlic Mashed Turnips

Why This Is Strictly Keto
Mashed potatoes are one of the highest-carb sides there is. Turnips mash up just as creamy with a fraction of the carbs, and here they are finished with only butter, garlic, cream and chives.
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds (680 g) turnips, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
Instructions
Boil: Put the turnips and garlic in a pot, cover with salted water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 20–25 minutes until very tender.
Drain well: Drain in a colander and let the turnips steam dry for 2 minutes so the mash is not watery.
Mash: Return to the pot with the butter and cream and mash until smooth and creamy, or purée with an immersion blender.
Season: Stir in the salt and pepper, and top with chives.
