Steak and Eggs

Why This Is Strictly Keto
Steak, eggs, salt and pepper — this breakfast is pure protein and fat with no toast, no potatoes, no sugar and no flour. It delivers roughly 1g of carbohydrate per plate.
Ingredients
- 6 oz (170g) New York strip steak, about 1/2 inch thick
- Sea salt, divided
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, divided
- 1 teaspoon avocado oil or butter, for the steak
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon butter or avocado oil, for the eggs
- Pinch of red pepper flakes and dried parsley, to garnish
Instructions
Heat the pan: Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until very hot, or preheat a grill.
Season the steak: Pat the steak dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Sear: Add the oil to the skillet, then cook the steak 2–3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer to a plate, cover loosely with foil and rest for 5 minutes.
Fry the eggs: Meanwhile, melt the butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Crack in the eggs and cook until the whites are set, about 4–5 minutes, keeping the yolks runny if you like.
Plate: Slice the steak against the grain, place the eggs alongside, and season with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and parsley.
